Windsurfing Exercise

Windsurfing Exercise Program...

Dear Windsurfers,
Have you ever thought about how much your sailing could improve if your body was in peak condition to go windsurfing...?
Can you imagine the feeling when you throw down a huge trick that you never used to be able to do...?
Wouldn't you like to be ready for the coming season...?

Core Strength & Balance

As windsurfing incorporates a lot of twisting and rotating, core strength plays a critical part in controlling the movements on your board. The stronger your core, the easier it will be to perform more challenging manoeuvres and maintain good form. It will also help reduce the risk of injury.

Back Extension
--> Lie on the stability ball with your feet against a wall for support.
--> Keeping your back straight and your hands behind your head, slowly lower your trunk towards the floor bending from the hips and then slowly raise back to a straight body position.
--> To make it harder, hold a weight plate above your head.

Stability Ball Balance Twist

--> Kneel on the ball whilst holding a weight plate or medicine ball in your hands.
--> Twist the weight / medicine ball from one side of your body to the other whilst maintaining your balance.
--> If kneeling is too easy, perform the exercise with one foot and one knee on the ball.

Windsurfing holidays in Greece

Windsurfing holidays in Greece

Our windsurfing holidays in Greece make this exciting and exhilarating sport accessible to everybody. If you have ever wanted to learn windsurfing, Greece is a great place to start.

One of the best destinations for windsurfing in Greece is Vassiliki, but we started our journey on Krf. One of Europe’s most famous windsurfing destinations and a well had known Mecca for windsurfers who want to blast on flat water. The awe-inspiring mountains of Lefkas ensure that the action doesn’t stop at the beach, with great terrain for all mountain bikers, but we have rented a Jeep :-))

Greece, with its blue seas, warm summers, dramatic mountains and unique way-of-life create a fantastic atmosphere for beach holidays abroad. Every day of our windsurfing holidays we enjoyed windsurfing independently within there designated sailing areas, which stay open until the last windsurfer returns to the beach at the end of the day. We saw wonderfully options to visit…

This was our favourite beach : Ipsos

And let me tell you something about this perfect boat. It is probably the most innovative boards ever offered. All carefully designed for the recreational market with soft, comfortable full EVA decks and easy integrated transportation systems. (patented build-in wheel).

Simply the ultimate kid’s board in a modern manoeuvrable and fast, but still easy to sail short package.

WINDSURFING in Croatia

A little bit about the history
First windsurfers came in Croatia in the early 1970's. They were Western Europe tourists from Germany or Belgium. Croat and other tourists were stunned and amazed by their appearance!

Ok, since, after all my origin is from Croatia and I was first windsurf instructor back in 1980's, let me tell you about the best places to surf in Croatia:
The two main places I will talk about are Korcula town or Premantura (near Pula).

Pros for Korcula - we've been there many times and thought it was beautiful, and if you do the windsurfing bit of your holiday in Korcula (as opposed to Premantura) it means your total travel is a lot less.Cons - You can't find any windsurfing schools on the internet but there are ones. I know they exist - I talked to the people running one when I was there in 2006, but like to get things sorted out a bit before we travel.

Pros for Pula - Pula looks amazing. Check a useful site (www.windsurfing.hr) and have already - accommodation is at huge campsite that is overpriced and not really your thing (although the boyswould probably enjoy it).
Bol, island of Brac - Everybody knows this is very popular for windsurfing, and I was there last year and, to be honest, were fairly under whelmed by the place, nowadays. Possibly because I had heard and I know how fantastic it was, so it was never going to live up to your expectations. Also, I spent over a week on Brac (mainly Supertar) so would like to see somewhere new.

Dahab

10. Windsurfing in Dahab

Dahab is situated in the wind chanel of the Gulf of Aqaba. Because of pressure differences between the hot dessert and the sea, the wind is blowing at almost 300 days a year at 4 Bft. and above, providing perfect conditions for windsurfing.
In summer when temperature raises up to 40 degress this spot turns into a high wind area(7 bft+) with constant wind all day and night. August and September are the best month for Dahab windsurfing, unless you're not afraid of the hot sun. In the morning the wind blows a little offshore but in the afternoon it turns to sideshore from the left.

Cape Verde

9. Cape Verde

The Cape Verde islands are a small archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic, 1,500 km south of the Canary Islands and approximately 450 km off the western coast of Senegal. The archipelago is formed by 10 main islands and about 8 islets.
The Cape Verde islands can be divided into two main groups. The Sotavento group (sotavento means leeward) is the southeast group of islands which include Santiago, Majo, Fogo and Brava. The Barlavento group (windward islands) is the northwest group of islands, which includes Santo Antoa, Sao Vicente, Santa Luzia, San Nicolau, Sal and Boa Vista. The Barlavento islands, situated in the trade wind zone, are more interesting for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
One of the windiest surf destinations close to Europe, Cape Verde is worth a visit year-round, but the best period for windsurfing is from November to June, when the wind is more strong and reliable. The great advantage of Cape Verde as a windsurfing destination is a variety of conditions available, from blasting to big waves. With so many distinctive spots, Cape Verde is a real paradise for windsurfing.

Beginner Windsurfing - The Most Excellent Windsurfing Mast Support

The Most Excellent Windsurfing Mast Support

Windsurfing Universal Joints to Reflect On

This is a windsurfing element that you should reflect on when you are about selecting a windsurfing board. Remember that the mast of windsurfs can only be maneuvered through the universal joint. In most cases, these have been known as the mast support. These are also in three main categories which are tendon, rubber and mechanical. To begin with, the tendon windsurfing mast support is what is to be had with two of more connectors. Examples of these connectors include the US support of the Euro pin support. This type of mast support is commonly used by expert windsurfers. Remember that this is due to their flexibility and force.
The rubber mast support is mostly used by halfway windsurfers and the mechanical mast support is commonly used by first time surfers. This type of mast support is also easy when haulage is being done. What is special about these mast supports is that they can be bought separately as accessories when considering repairs or total modification of the whole windsurfing board.

Naxos

8. Naxos

Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades island group in the Aegean Sea. Hora, the largest city and capital of the island (sometimes called Naxos City) has about 7,000 inhabitants. Mount Zas on Naxos is the highest peak in the Cyclades ((1,004 m). According to mythology, the young Zeus was raised in a cave on Mt. Zas ("Zas" meaning "Zeus").
On Naxos, you can enjoy waist-deep lagoon and a wave spot in a single location. The lagoon is protected by the reef and has sandy seabed. Inside the lagoon conditions are great for freestyle and slalom. There is a marked gateway at the offshore reef, showing the way to the wave spot. The waves (usually from 1 to 2.5 m high) provides excellent jumping and backside riding conditions. The windsurfing season on Naxos lasts from May to October. Summer months, when meltelmi blows, are the best time to go.

Rhodes

7. Rhodes

Rhodes is one of the Greek Dodecanese Islands located in the Aegean Sea 250 kilometres south east of the mainland (port of Piraeus). The name "Rhodes" comes from "island of the roses". Rhodes has a unique physical scenery that does not stop to impress its visitors. Also unique is its climate: Rhodes is called the island of sun because of its 320 days of sunshine a year.
Windsurfing season on Rhodes begins in March and lasts until the end of November, but the best time to go to Rhodes for windsurfing, of course, is the summer, especially the months of July and August. In the mornings the water is flat and the wind is calm, but by midday the wind picks up and the waves start to swell, and by the afternoon the wind is really blowing. In other words, the Rhodes windsurfing conditions are good for surfers of all ages and abilities.
